Into the Wind
Am I the same person pedaling into the wind as with? Sort of, the wind from any direction helps me see, if I'm willing to look.
I appreciate the wind's neutrality, nature's neutrality. It’s my attitude that shapes the experience. Grip the handle bars, grit my teeth, and growl into the wind while questioning my toughness and wanting relief. With it I’m stronger, more capable, happier — master of my environment. Ha!
Of course, I'm the same person, on or off the bike, with the wind or against it. The process either way illuminates my patterns of thinking, feeling, choosing, and becoming. Where I place my attention is where I place my energy. May I unbind the rote emotions that reinforce an illusory self. The wind says, “a deeper divinely rooted self exists.”
May I enter the day with wonder and awe, knowing that gifts of awareness and deepening are ahead no matter the weather or terrain. Pedal gratefully. Breathe fully. Celebrate!
